Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 May Feature a 16MP Selfie and IP68 Certification

In a smartphone world where every person is obsessed with taking amazing photos and making free video calls over the internet, powerful selfie cameras are emerging as USPs for major OEMs.

We’ve seen the LG V10 come in with a dual-lens front camera and HTC 10 add OIS to its front-facing snapper. Just recently, OnePlus released an enhanced version of the original OnePlus 3, with a front camera of 16MP making the major highlight. Now, according to the latest reports, Samsung wants to jump into this craze by packing a massive 16MP sensor on the front panel of the 2017 Galaxy A7.

Samsung Galaxy A7 is not the only Galaxy A series phone that is expected to be upgraded in the coming days. The tech giant is also working on the Galaxy A3 as well as Galaxy A5 upgrades, but it is the high-end Galaxy A7 2017 that is stealing the show with a number of leaked specs and features.

While the addition of a 16MP selfie sensor might seem to be the biggest news for the new Samsung Galaxy A7 2017, there is more to this phone that you can probably think of. Apparently, the same IP68 water and dust resistance certification on the flagship Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will make it to the midrange Galaxy A7 2017.

This is a huge surprise given that the feature has often appeared on the high-end models of the company. As for other specs, it is rumored that Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 will include a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen, but there is still no room for QHD resolution despite rumors of UHD coming to the Galaxy S8. While the leak says that the 16MP rear snapper of the phone will carry an aperture of f/1.9, there is still no mention of what features the front snapper will come with.

Under the hood, Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 is rumored to come with a speedier Exynos 7880 SoC that is clocked at a speed of 1.8GHz and is paired with a RAM of 3GB. You get 32GB of expandable storage alongside a 3600mAh battery unit that is chargeable via a USB-C port. Other features expected include a fingerprint scanner, LTE connectivity, Bluetooth, and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.

The new Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 should be launched before the end of this December 2016 alongside the Galaxy A3 2017 and Galaxy A5 2017. We’ll keep you updated.
