Samsung Galaxy C5 and Galaxy C7 were released this year as a new mid-range family to join the Galaxy A and Galaxy J series. Now, it seems the South Korean tech giant is preparing to push another Galaxy C handset to the market in the coming weeks.
Courtesy of TENAA, we now have details of a phone with model number SM-C9000, which can directly be associated with the rumored Samsung Galaxy C9. A look at the model number in comparison to the model numbers of the Galaxy C5 and Galaxy C7 also makes it easy to believe the phone is indeed a Galaxy C9. The leaked details of the phone showcase a number of images that are believed to be for the phone alongside several specs.
By looking at the design of the phone, there is no doubt that the Galaxy C9 is a scaled-up variant of the Galaxy C7. In case you didn’t know, the Galaxy C7 has a screen size of 5.7 inches, similar to the Galaxy Note 7. In addition, the phone has measurements of 156.6 x 77.2 x 6.8 mm. On the other hand, what TENAA has listed in terms of measurements shows that the Galaxy C9 will come with a larger screen size than its predecessor.
The phone will supposedly measure 162.9 x 80.7 x 6.9 mm, something that could imply we end up with a 6-inch smartphone. Nonetheless, the rest of the display features will be retained, including an AMOLED panel as well as 1080p resolution. Under the hood, Samsung Galaxy C9 will feature a mid-range processor in the shape of Snapdragon 652 alongside a RAM of 6GB. There is still no Android Nougat, instead, Android Marshmallow will power the phablet out of the box and a battery unit of 4000mAh will keep the phone alive.
The Galaxy C9 might borrow almost all the camera specs of the 2015 Samsung Galaxy flagships, including a 16MP rear snapper, albeit without OIS, and a 5MP selfie camera. There will be support for 4G LTE connectivity, a 3.5mm headphone port as well as a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button.
While the Galaxy C9 retains just about every aspect of the design language you see on the Galaxy C5 and Galaxy C7, there are some interesting changes. The phone has slim antenna lines at the bottom and top and are colored like the metallic back of the phone.
The leaked images also showcased another model that is believed to be a Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro, which essentially comes with the same design as its counterpart. As for now, there is really nothing known about the specs of the phone, but reports claim that both the standard and Pro versions will come in three color variants of Silver, Gold and Rose Gold.
As for the launch date, Samsung will reportedly avail the Galaxy C9 and C9 Pro later this month in China and the U.S. might receive it later in November.
