Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is officially the busiest Samsung phone in the month of May. At the beginning of the month, the phablet appeared to be the first of the company’s flagship line to be updated with this month’s security patches.
Now, it seems this is set to go on and in fact, it is once again happening in the same country where the earlier update took place – India. Apparently, Samsung has begun an official rollout process for its Samsung Galaxy Note 4 units in the Asian country. The update has a weight of about 525MB, but it has nothing to do with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow since the latter update has already been availed in this region.
Following the update, the device’s build number is bumped to N910GDTU1DPE1, however, the company has not detailed out clearly what really the update is about, apart from the usual story of bug fixes and performance improvements.
As mentioned earlier, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 units in India have already received this month’s Android security updates. As such, this update probably has nothing to do with monthly security updates, or maybe it’s the second release for this month’s security patch. Being an unusual scenario, it is possible that Samsung is rushing in to fix possible issues with the new Marshmallow update or simply bringing in more improvements.
As for now, the update has only been spotted in India and since it is coming as an OTA update, it will not be available to all users at the same time. If waiting is not your thing, you can visit the settings of your Galaxy Note 4 and check out for the update manually. It might take some time before the update hits all Note 4 units across the globe.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is the last Note series to come from Samsung featuring a microSD card and a removable battery. Last year’s Note 5 had nothing to do with any of these features, but since they have been brought back on Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, we expect to see them make an official reappearance on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 6.
