Samsung is facing a hard time in the smartphone industry, but this will for sure not stop the tech giant from rolling out more handsets to the market. The latest entry is Samsung Galaxy On7 2016, a mid-range handset that comes to succeed last year’s Galaxy On7.

The Galaxy On7 2016, however, has only been unveiled in China, with the company remaining silent on when the midranger will make it to the likes of the U.S. and Europe, among other regions. There are lots of products in this midrange market segment, and Samsung is well aware of this. Despite this knowledge, the company has still pushed in a new phone, so, what makes the company think that this handset has what it takes to beat the rest of the pack?

Samsung Galaxy On7 2016 comes with a height of 151.7mm and thickness of just 8mm. It has a roomy 5.5-inch Full HD display screen, but it drops the use of a Super AMOLED panel in favor of a TFT screen. Under the hood, you get an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, a great mid-range chipset that already many phones in this segment. To make it more attractive, Samsung packed the Galaxy On7 2016 with a RAM of 3GB and expandable storage of 32GB, with the slot capable of housing up to 256GB.

The rear snapper of the Galaxy On7 2016 has an impressive 13MP lens and the front has an even better 8MP sensor. Even though Android Nougat is already out there, Samsung has not yet wrapped up things with the OS, meaning you get still get Android Marshmallow out of the box.

Given its huge screen, Samsung Galaxy On7 2016 packs a decent 3300mAh battery unit that also supports fast charging technology. It gets even better as the Korean tech giant added a fingerprint scanner to the phone and it lives in the home button. You can grab the phone in black, gold and pink color variants at a price of just $240.

At the same time, the news of a Galaxy On5 2016 arriving soon has been teased on the official Samsung China website. Apparently, this handset will come with a slightly weaker Snapdragon 617 SoC and a smaller screen size. Apart from these, there is really nothing much we can gather from the teaser, but it should be coming really soon.
