Samsung Galaxy S25 series smartphones will have 3nm chips. Some regions will see the phones launched with Exynos 2500 chipset whereas other regions will have Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset.

This new chipset from Qualcomm, which is still in the works, is likely to be announced in October this year and will power several flagship phones of 2025 including the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. This superior chipset will help the phone beat its rival Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max in terms of performance.

While it’s expected that the Samsung Galaxy S25 and Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus smartphones will have Exynos or Snapdragon chipsets depending on the region, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is most likely to be powered only by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset across the globe.

Appearance on Geekbench

Recently, Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC was seen on the Geekbench database and that’s what indicated that the performance will be superior. The device with the processor scored 8840 points in Geekbench v6.3 for multi-core and 2884 points in single-core performance. This was when the unit was fitted with 12GB RAM. Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max had scored 7237 and 2900 points respectively on the same Geekbench database. This indicates that the new chipset offers better performance of up to 35%.

These screenshots from Geekbench are based on reference devices that don’t have the software optimized for performance. Naturally, when that’s taken care of, the phones with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset will perform better than this and can expect a further improvement.

Another reason why the S25 Ultra could be better than the iPhone 16 Pro Max is that Apple’s iPhone 16 series is not expected to have an improved chipset this year which offers an increase in performance.

GPU Performance

Even in terms of GPU performance, Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra will be better than the iPhone 16 Pro Max because it has an Adreno 830 GPU. Even last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset beat iPhone 15 Pro Max’s hexa-core GPU so Samsung will continue to dominate in performance over Apple.
