Samsung Galaxy S9 renders leaked – and it looks like an inverted Xiaomi Mi MIX 2

Samsung might be taking all the credit when it comes to bezel-less smartphone designs, but it’s Xiaomi’s Mi MIX that gave the world an idea of what a bezel-less smartphone is.

The Chinese OEM followed up the OG Mi MIX with a new Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, which was unveiled a few weeks ago. As you would expect, the company picked up from where the 2016 model left off, this time shedding off even more bezels as well as display real estate. The end result was another gorgeous smartphone with no bezels on three sides, except for the bottom, where you find the selfie shooter.

Now, Samsung is also set to make some design changes to the Galaxy S9, improving a few aspects of the S8 and coming in with new ones as well. In a newly leaked set of renders, the front-facing panel could undergo a small change, where the bottom bezel will be completely removed, leaving the top bezel as the only bezel on the phone. The top bezel, as you’d expect, houses the selfie camera, earpiece, iris scanner and a series of other sensors.

The Galaxy S9 will reportedly stick to a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, but it will be vertical, appearing right below the lens and not on the side as with the case of the Galaxy S8 and Note 8. Whether Samsung will turn to a dual-lens camera is still unknown, but you can be sure the S9 will ship with an Exynos 9810 or Snapdragon 845 processor, probably with the same RAM – or maybe more.

In short, what is flying around regarding the Samsung Galaxy S9 is based on leaks and rumors, so take the reports, including the latest renders, with a grain of salt. Still, something worth mentioning about the leaked renders is the color variant in question. If indeed the S9 comes in a red finish, it would make it a hot cake in the smartphone market.
