Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are already in the race of becoming the best smartphone of 2016 and probably the few years to come. While these two are successors to last year’s Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, we are yet to see the successor of the larger Galaxy Note 5.
Of course, the main reason why Samsung Galaxy Note 6 is not here yet is that the traditional release date of the device is meant for the second half of the year, probably in August, which is still a few months away. While this date seems to be far away, it actually isn’t. This is true because the company has to manufacture millions of Galaxy Note 6 units in order to satisfy the huge demand.
Due to the huge number of units needed, the company needs to go into production early enough to ensure all markets are satisfied. With this in mind, some possible specs and features of Samsung Galaxy Note 6 have begun showing up.
According to SamMobile, Samsung is currently testing two variants of the phablet – a flat screen variant and another one with a curved screen. The Samsung-focused website further states that the two phones will feature a QHD resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels.
While the source is adamant that Samsung will be coming in with one variant of the Galaxy Note 6, the fact that there are two different display screens being tested could suggest the Korean company is working on a Galaxy S7 Edge+ to succeed last year’s Galaxy S6 Edge+. On the contrary, the report claims that Samsung is undecided on whether to stick with a flat screen or go for the curved screen for the Galaxy Note 6. This somehow makes sense; especially that Samsung released the S7 Edge with a larger screen of 5.5 inches, 0.4 inches more than last year’s version.
Rumors have been going round that Samsung Galaxy Note 6 will feature a larger screen size of 5.8 inches. In the latest report, the two screens that Samsung is toying around with have the same size of 5.8 inches.
Other rumored specs of Samsung Galaxy Note 6
In addition to a possible curved screen featuring on the next Samsung Galaxy Note 6, the same report also adds that Samsung will bump up the battery size. With the Galaxy S7 Edge having a larger unit of 3600mAh, it is believed that the Korean company will pack a 4000mAh unit in the Note 6, which is way larger than the 3220mAh used in the Galaxy Note 5.
Other specs to possibly feature on the Galaxy Note 6 include a Snapdragon 823 SoC for the American version and an Exynos 8890 for the International variant. As far as memory is concerned, the phablet will reportedly pack a RAM of 6GB and onboard storage of 32GB. Since Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge brought back the microSD card and Ingress Protection, these two features are also expected to be back on the Note 6.
There is still no mention of what camera Samsung Galaxy Note 6 will pack. However, we expect to see the same 12MP DualPixel sensor used on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge making an appearance on this device as well. The front part will have a 5MP selfie snapper. Both rear and front facing sensors will feature an aperture of f/1.7. Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 6 with Android N on board.
None of these has been confirmed by Samsung, so, don’t be too excited.
