Last year, Sony was at the MWC event in Spain and launched the Xperia X series. The company also attended this year’s event, where the Xperia XZs and Xperia XZ Premium were announced. If anything, we expect the Japanese tech giant to keep this pattern.
The MWC 2018 will be held in February and with Sony expected to attend the event, the latest reports add more weight to this expectation. Over the recent few weeks, details of upcoming Sony Xperia phones have been showing up online and there is even more to add spice to these reports.
Thanks to their User-agent Profiles (UAProfs), we now have some details of the upcoming phones. The company is planning a Sony Xperia handset with model number H81XX, which will ship with a 4K (2160 x 3840) display resolution. Sony is known for using UHD display resolutions on its Premium variants and this is just an indicator that the OEM is lining up a successor to the Xperia XZ Premium that debuted at last year’s MWC show. The phone will come in two variants with model numbers H8116 and H8166, which should be single and dual SIM variants.
Other than the flagship Sony Xperia XZ Premium successor, the MWC 2018 should also see Sony unveil another high-end phone that should sit just below the Premium model. Listed as Sony H2XX with up to four variants with model numbers H8216, H8266, H8276 and H8296, this variant will ship with a 1080p display screen.
Not so long ago, details of another Sony handset with model number H8541 showed up online and even though this is definitely a different model, it has a few similarities with the H81XX family. These include a 4K display resolution and Android Oreo, but the rest of the specs may differ. Apparently, the H8541 will ship with a 5.7-inch screen with Gorilla Glass 5 on top, a Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage and a 3420mAh battery unit that supports Quick Charge 3.0.
While the validity of the leaked specs of the said Sony Xperia H8541 cannot be trusted in the same way as what appeared on the UAProf, it’s possible that if this handset does exist, it will also join the rest at the MWC 2018, which should make it at least three phones from Sony.
