Sony is rolling out a new OTA update to a number of 2015 devices that include the Xperia Z5 family, Xperia Z3+ as well as the Xperia Z4 Tablet.
If you own any of the three Sony Xperia Z5 phones, which include the standard Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium, an update to Android 7.1.1 Nougat is now available for download. The trio had already been updated to the original Android 7.0 Nougat, which means that the current update is not huge and comes with a few additions here and there.
The update is arriving as software version 32.4.A.0.160 and Sony warns that installing this OS will mean that you won’t be able to turn back to the old version, even if something terrible happens after the update is fully installed.
Users of the Xperia Z5 phones have been reporting issues related to Bluetooth and NFC, well, this update is here to solve these issues as well as fix other bugs discovered in the previous version. As usual, those receiving the update will also notice some changes in performance and general system stability thanks to the optimizations it carries.
The update is rolling out over the air and as such, not all Xperia Z5, Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z4 Tablet devices will be able to download it at once. Instead, it will gradual, which means some people – and possibly regions – will receive the OTA notification ahead of others. To skip this wait, try a manual update by heading to Settings>About device, but do make sure you have a stable internet connection and at least 50% battery power on your device.
