If you are using an HTC One M9 on T-Mobile, well, there’s something to smile about as the company has just confirmed that Android 7.0 Nougat OS is now under testing.
With the OS still in the testing phase, HTC One M9 users should expect to see the update soon. However, be warned that this “soon” could be weeks or even a month or so, which means this update could arrive later in April. In fact, looking at how T-Mobile has been faring on with software updates, we can say that Android 7.0 Nougat will start rolling out to the One M9 in about two to three weeks from now.
HTC was one of the first OEMs to start rolling out the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OTA to 2015 devices. The One M9 started seeing the OS back in 2016 and later in January, those in Europe, Asia, and other regions started receiving the same treat. However, this was only happening for the unlocked variants of the phone.
As usual with carrier-based versions of phones, the T-Mobile HTC One M9 will be joining the party months after the first unlocked model received the OS. Not so cool, John! Anyway, it will be a relief for many One M9 users on the carrier as they’ll finally be able to enjoy the new dessert on their phones.
As noted earlier, the HTC One M9 is a 2015 device, which makes perfect sense for it to be receiving the update at such a time. The argument would be that the T-Mobile was still working on the HTC 10 update, which has already rolled out. When the update comes around, be sure to make the jump as this is probably the last major update the One M9 will receive from the company. By the time Android 8.0 is here, the phone will be closing in on a third full year in the market.
