UK Launch Dates for Sony Xperia X and Xperia XA Revealed

Xperia X Series

Sony is ready to come out with its Xperia X range after making its debut at the Mobile World Congress in February.

They will replace the Xperia Z line-up of smartphones, which have been the default flag bearer for the company for the last couple of years. The Xperia X range includes phones like the Xperia X, Xperia XA, and the Xperia X Performance. The three models will be coming in to the UK markets in a month. The Xperia X will be the first hit the stores on May 20 followed by the Xperia XA in the first week of June.

Several retailers have been offering pre-orders on these devices without actually stating the release date. The features, though, have been available for quite a while with the Xperia X looking like an improvement on phones like the Xperia Z3.

The Xperia X comes with a 5-inch screen with only full HD display on offer. This has been the philosophy for Sony in its high-end phones even with the availability of QHD displays on a number of competitors. The Japanese giant is keen on preserving battery life over more pixels, although the intelligent display is capable of providing more color accuracy than competitors. The phone uses the snapdragon 650 processor, which has six cores.

Xperia X and Xperia XA

Gone are the days when most Sony phones in this price point came with 16 GB of internal storage. The Xperia X has a standard 32 GB and this might put additional load on the speed of the device. In order to cope with this aspect, the Xperia X is given more than sufficient 3 GB of RAM. In the rear, Sony continues to rely on a huge megapixel count in its cameras. The recently seen 23.4 megapixel cameras on the Sony phones continues to ply its trade.

It is rather surprising to see the Xperia X have only a 2620 mAh battery.

Compared with these specifications, the Xperia XA feels a tad lower. Even though it has the same 5-inch screen, it offers only 720p resolution. The battery is even smaller at 2300 mAh. The storage is also reduced to 16 GB, while there is no snapdragon processor on-board. Instead, this phone uses the Helio P10 processor with 2 GB of RAM.

The Xperia X is available for around $800 while the Xperia XA is priced at $400.
