Samsung Galaxy S9

Verizon has just released the latest firmware updates for four Samsung Galaxy devices namely the Samsung Galaxy A50, S9, S9+ and Galaxy Watch.

The updates mostly include the Android security update patch of June 1. Some minor performance improvement updates are included with the update on the Samsung Galaxy A50 and Galaxy Watch.

Samsung Galaxy A50

This is a smartphone released by Samsung early this year and obviously, this is the first software update the device is receiving from Verizon. Verizon says the update package includes certain performance improvements in the device and will address any known issues reported after the phone was released. The Samsung Galaxy A50 smartphone has a 6.4 inch AMOLED display. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC is the processor with RAM support coming in variants of 4 GB and 6 GB. The Samsung Galaxy A50 is in the middle of the 9-phone series the South Korean giant has announced for this year ranging from Galaxy A10 to A90.

Samsung Galaxy S9

The Samsung Galaxy S9 is just more than a year old after release, and receives its software update No. 13. There is nothing much beyond the June Android security update patch for this phone which sports a 5.8 inch AMOLED display and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, which was the top processor in February/March 2018 when this model was introduced. Samsung uses its in-house Exynos processors for other markets, but the Qualcomm ones only for the US market. The RAM support the processor receives is 4 GB while the onboard storage can be chosen from 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB.

Samsung Galaxy S9+

The Samsung Galaxy S9+ is the higher version of the S9 smartphone, has the same release date and is receiving the 13th update from Verizon. This software update too has the latest Android security patch released by Google in June. Samsung retained the same processor on the S9+ as in the S9 but the display is larger at 6.2 inches and the RAM 6 GB. There are options for the onboard storage to be picked from.

The Galaxy S9 and S9+ released in 2018 had the Android Oreo OS but will now be running on the next version, the Android Pie, while the Samsung Galaxy A50 has come pre-loaded with the Android Pie OS.
