Verizon’s Galaxy S6, S6 Edge Update Improves Wi-Fi and HD Voice Calling

Verizon's Galaxy S6, S6 Edge update

Users of last year’s Samsung Galaxy S6 and the curved dual-edge variant Galaxy S6 Edge on Verizon can now rejoice as the giant carrier has just unveiled a much-needed update for these two flagships.

According to the latest news coming from Verizon, the new software update comes in with very specific improvements targeting the features of Wi-Fi and HD voice calling. The update also comes with usual improvements to the performance of the phones.

Once you get the latest Verizon software on your Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge, you will for sure notice some immediate changes in the frequency at which Wi-Fi calls drop. It gets even better with this update as far as Wi-Fi calling is concerned. Apparently, all Verizon users on a roaming network will be able to sign in to the service without any problems. In fact, you don’t even need to have your phone connected to the official Verizon Wireless network in order to make this sign in.

As far as HD voice calls are concerned, the latest Verizon update brings a number of changes. For starters, the volume of calls made via the earpiece has been upped. However, it seems only those linked to 4G LTE network will be able to tap into HD Voice calls. In short, you will not be able to use HD Voice calling on your updated Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge even if you are connected to 3G or any other slower network.

Samsung is also making things a little more simplistic for users with this update. Once it has been installed, users will notice a warning whenever they are making video calls using their mobile data. With this, it will help with data monitoring and hence help users easily manage their data usage. So, if you are after making video calls without topping your data usage, this new update is a must-have for you. The same is true for those who want to make or receive calls through Wi-Fi connections.

Since the update will be hitting the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge as an OTA, it will not be available to all users at once. If you don’t see the update anytime soon, you can check for the installer package by heading to the phones’ Settings. The update should bring your Galaxy S6 software version to MMB29K.G920VVRU4CPH1.
