Earlier this year, Vivo had stunned the tech industry by debuting the Vivo APEX concept that is packed with breakthrough technologies like 91-percent screen-to-body ratio, pop-up front camera, half screen fingerprint reader and more.
However, recent reports have revealed that the handset may commercially debut with Vivo NEX moniker. The retail launch of the phone is expected to begin on June 12. Today, a smartphone labelled as “Vivo NEX S” moniker has cropped on the website of China’s 3C body.
The above screenshot also shows that a Vivo charger with model number V2323A-CN has been certified along with Vivo NEX S. The charging rates supported by the handset are 5V/2A (10W), 9V/2A (18W) and 10V/2.25A (22.5W).
Vivo has concentrated on selling mid-range and upper mid-range phones. None of the Vivo phones that have released so far including the Vivo X21 feature USB-C port. However, since the Vivo NEX S is enabled with 22.5W fast charging, it appears that it could be the first Vivo to arrive with USB-C port to support fast charging.
The upcoming Vivo NEX smartphone is rumored to debut in Snapdragon 845 and Snapdragon 710 chipset variants. Early rumors had claimed that the Vivo NEX’s base model was supposed to feature Snapdragon 660, but the Chinese firm reportedly decided to switch to the newly unveiled Snapdragon 710 chipset at the last moment.
The SD845 edition of Vivo NEX will most likely arrive with USB-C and the SD710 variant may also feature it. It is speculated that the SD845 powered Vivo NEX will have a pop-up camera whereas the SD710 variant will have the selfie camera slotted at the right corner of the bottom bezel. A recent leak has revealed the SD845 and SD710 editions of the Vivo NEX could be respectively priced at 4998 Yuan ($777) and 6998 Yuan ($1,088).
