While wireless magnetic charging is not new to Apple, the upcoming Xiaomi 15 and OPPO Find X8 series are all set to break the ice by introducing the technology in Android smartphones.
With magnetic wireless charging support, these handsets will deliver a charging experience like that of Apple’s MagSafe charging. Android flagships did not support this feature so far because they did not have the magnets needed to align the charging coils properly for charging to take place effectively.

According to a recent post on the popular Weibo platform by tipster Digital Chat Station, OPPO has finally got around to introducing its magnetic power bank. The leak also specifically mentions that the entire Find X8 series will support magnetic wireless charging. The smartphones in this series will come with magnets that can be used to attach them to the power bank. The leak also shares an image of how the manufacturer’s power bank would look like.
The same leak mentioned above also reveals that Xiaomi has manufactured an ultra-thin 30 W magnetic wireless charger with China’s CQC certification. The charger associated with the model number MDY-17-EY features 65 W input and 30 W output.
This is not the first time Xiaomi is offering a magnetic charging option. The manufacturer already has three magnetic power bank options with different styles. They are the built-in stand hanging hole, vertical separation design, and ordinary magnetic models in decreasing order of their price ranging from 249 yuan to 129 yuan respectively.
While it is good news that the Xiaomi and OPPO smartphones will support magnetic charging, it is yet to be ascertained if they will follow the new Qi2 wireless charging standards. Nevertheless, it is safe to say that if the magnetic power bank or charger works as intended, it can pave the way for a much more convenient way of charging on the go.
