Xiaomi Mi 6 to be released in March – Price details will Surprise you

Xiaomi Mi 6

If you thought OnePlus was the king of specs-price combinations that are completely out this world, wait until you hear what plans are in place ahead of the launch of Xiaomi Mi 6 this March.

According to the latest reports, the Chinese OEM will be unveiling the Xiaomi Mi 6 in March, probably at the MWC 2017 tech show, just like it happened with the Mi 5 at the MWC 2016 tech in Barcelona. This confirmation was pretty much made when the tech giant’s co-founder and vice president, Li Wanqiang, said that the company has a surprise for the masses this coming March while attending the Geek Park innovation conference.

Even though the Xiaomi Mi 6 was not specifically mentioned, the fact that Mi 5 was announced at the same event last year is possible that this will also be the case with this year’s flagship. Apparently, the Mi 6 will be sold for CNY 1999, which is probably the price for the base model. Interestingly, this is just an equivalent of $290.

Now, to add to this development, new information has just come in from China with more details about this upcoming Xiaomi Mi 6 flagship. Like many other Xiaomi phones, this new report says that the Mi 6 will keep the metallic design. It will also take some inspiration from the Mi 5S as far as the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is concerned. Unlike what you probably know already, this sensor lives on the display screen. It is the same technology that Samsung and Apple are also expected to debut on their upcoming Galaxy S8 and iPhone 8 flagships due to the removal of the physical home buttons.

There will be some improvements in the camera that ships with this Xiaomi Mi 6 phone, but the details of the lenses to be used are not yet clear. It has been rumored before that Xiaomi will roll out two models of the Mi 6 that are differentiated by the design of the display screen, just like Samsung did last year with the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. As it is, there will be a base model that features a flat screen, probably the one to be valued at $290, while the high-end variant will come with a curved dual-edge screen and it will cost CNY 2,499, which is about $363.

For these price tags, the Xiaomi Mi 6 will give you a Snapdragon 835 processor that will also be powering other Android flagship phones this year, a base model that has 4GB RAM and a premium version that ships with 6GB RAM. The battery may stand at 3000mAh and you can be sure of Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, especially now that the Mi 5 flagship already joined the party.
