Xiaomi’s 2019 flagship phone, the Xiaomi Mi 9 has appeared on Geekbench today ahead of its launch event that will take place tomorrow in China at 2 PM.
We have now found a new Geekbench listing of Xiaomi Mi 9 Transparent Edition. The major difference between the Mi 9 listing we found and reported earlier in the day with this one is the RAM variant. This new Transparent edition phone has 12GB RAM whereas the original Mi 9 we saw had just 8GB RAM, albeit with better scores.
Lei Jun confirmed in a weibo post yesterday that Xiaomi Mi 9 Transparent Edition is in the works. He also confirmed that it would have a 48-MP camera with 7-piece lens and f/1.47 aperture. The glass would be so thin that it’s merely 0.4 mm, which is roughly the thickness of 4 sheets of A4 paper stacked together.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun had recently claimed that the company has worked with Qualcomm to optimize the performance of the Snapdragon 855. The Geekbench scores show that the SD855 powered Mi 9 will indeed deliver stunning performance.
In the previous month, a Xiaomi phone labelled as “Xiaomi Cepheus” was spotted with Snapdragon 855 chipset. It suggested that the Cepheus could be the codename of the Xiaomi Mi 9 smartphone. The Geekbench listing of the Mi 9 that has surfaced today carries the Cepheus codename. The Geekbench listing that was spotted in the previous month belonged to the 6 GB RAM variant of the phone. The variant that has been spotted today has 8 GB of RAM onboard. The handset is loaded with Android 9 Pie OS.
In the single-core test of Geekbench, the Mi 9 has recorded a score of 3522. It has scored a marvelous 11,277 score in the multi-core test. The 6 GB RAM variant of the phone had respectively scored 3524 and 11,260 points in single-core and multi-core tests of the benchmarking platform. The benchmarking scores indicate that, as Xiaomi claimed, the Mi 9 will be arriving as a super-powerful flagship smartphone.
Apart from 6 GB and 8 GB RAM variants, the Mi 9 is expected to arrive in a more powerful 12 GB RAM edition. This model could arrive in the market as Xiaomi Mi 9: Battle Angel Edition. The Mi 9 will be arriving with a 6.4-inch S-AMOLED display with a waterdrop-style notch that will support full HD+ resolution and 90.7 percent screen-to-body ratio. It will be equipped with an in-screen fingerprint scanner.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 will be running on MIUI 10 based Android 9 Pie OS. For photography, it will feature a triple camera setup with a Sony IMX586 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 16-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. It may house a 3,300 mAh battery that will carry support for 20 W wireless charging and 27 W rapid charging.
