If you are looking for the most futuristic smartphone in the present world, there’s no going past the Xiaomi Mi MIX.
Before the release of the Xiaomi Mi MIX, the Chinese OEM had been labeled a copycat. In fact, the company had been termed as the Apple of China due to producing phones that look almost like the iPhone as far as design is concerned. However, the Mi MIX was simply above anybody’s expectations, coming in with a near bezel-less display with only the bottom part featuring a bezel.
One small disappointment about the Xiaomi Mi MIX was the fact that the phone, like many of Xiaomi’s phones and gadgets in general, has remained confined within the borders of China. Despite making an appearance at the CES 2017, it has taken the company more than three months to make the handset available in a different market other than China.
Those in South Korea are the first people to get their hands on the borderless Mi MIX phablet as the phone has now been put up for pre-orders in the country. The phone is available via G-Mobi Korea, which is the country’s official seller of Xiaomi products.
As noted, the Xiaomi Mi MIX is now available for pre-orders and it can be grabbed for KRW 799,000. When converted, this figure amounts to about $705. For such a futuristic phone that also packs some of the best hardware specs you can find on the market, this price is indeed worth it.
The Mi MIX has a monster 6.4-inch display screen that packs a QHD resolution. Apart from the selfie camera, all other features that usually appear on the top and bottom bezels have found a new home under the display screen, including the earpiece. As for the fingerprint scanner, it is on the back, just below the main 16MP camera.
Under the hood, the Xiaomi Mi MIX packs a Snapdragon 821 SoC that is paired with either 4GB RAM and 128GB storage or 6GB RAM and 256GB storage. Despite these massive storage options, the Mi MIX still gets a microSD card slot. Keeping it alive is a 4400mAh battery unit and software-wise, you get Android Marshmallow, although an update to Android 7.0 Nougat is somewhere around the corner.
The version being sold in South Korea has 6GB RAM and 256GB storage and it will start shipping from April 28.
