Xiaomi Mi5 was launched back in February together with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, and LG G5. However, it was the only phone that was available for preorders following its official launch, with the rest of the pack going on sale a few weeks or months later.
The 2016 flagship has already been availed for purchase in China, India and a number of Asian countries. However, it is unlikely that the phone will be making it to the U.S., Europe and other regions across the globe. Still, there is a better chance of the Mi5 making its way to the international market as the company has been stepping up its efforts in expanding to the global space.
In India, Xiaomi lovers could grab a new Mi5 via the company’s Mi.com. Now, if this has been a limitation for you, there is good news as the Chinese OEM tweeted on Thursday that any willing person can get a new Xiaomi Mi5 from Amazon India, Flipkart , Tata Cliq and Snapdeal. This eliminates the dependency on the flash sale model that has been available in India since March with respect to the Mi5.
When Xiaomi Mi5 was launched, the company showcased three variants of the phone. The base model carries 3GB RAM and 32GB storage while the mid-range comes with the same 3GB RAM but improved storage of 64GB. The high-end model packs 4GB RAM and 128GB storage and it’s known as Xiaomi Mi5 Pro. Apparently, it is only the base model that will be available for purchase via the said platforms.
To keep you refreshed on what exactly the Xiaomi Mi5 packs in terms specs, you will get a 5.15-inch Full HD screen with 1920 by 1080 pixels of resolution. Under the hood, there is a Snapdragon 820 SoC that is paired with an Adreno 530 graphics processor and as said earlier, you get either 3GB or 4GB of RAM, depending on the variant.
As for the camera, the handsets have a 16MP sapphire glass protection lens on the rear with LED flash, PDAF and 4-axis OIS on board. The snapper is capable of recording 4K videos as well and has an aperture of f/2.0. The front panel features a 4MP selfie sensor with the same aperture.
To power the phone is a decent 3000mAh battery unit that is rechargeable via a USB Type-C port and Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
Thanks for the information & features.
