In about a month’s time, Xiaomi is expected to launch the Redmi 4 and Mi Note 2 smartphones. However, even before the official date is released, photos of these two phones have already doing rounds on the internet.
As it has become a norm with Xiaomi designs, the photos show off metallic unibody designs for both Xiaomi Redmi 4 and the Mi Note 2. The phones will also come with support for fingerprint scanning technology, which is a feature that has mostly appeared on flagship handsets.
The leaked Xiaomi Redmi 4 shows off a metallic unibody that features rounded edges with antenna bands hidden in the top and bottom ends. The fingerprint scanner of this phone can be found at the back of the phone where your forefinger will naturally rest. Right above it, there is a camera sensor with a LED flash beside it. You will notice a thin bezel on both sides of the phone as well as capacitive navigation buttons.
The latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be running on the phone out of the box with Xiaomi’s MIUI 8 skin on top of it. As for the hardware specs, expect a 5-inch Full HD display with 1080p resolution. Under the hood, the phone is tipped to come with a Snapdragon 625 SoC that we’ve seen on quite a number of mid-range handsets this year. This processor is supported by a RAM of 2GB and has an onboard storage of 16GB, which can be expanded via a microSD card of up to 128GB.
In another separate leak, there are reports that a new Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is also in the making. Photos of the phone have leaked online, with just about everything confirmed. The phone will reportedly sport a dual camera on the back and a curved display like what you see on the Galaxy Note 7. Apparently, the Mi Note 2 will come with a USB Type-C port, two speaker grilles and a home button that also doubles as a fingerprint scanner.
Previous rumors have indicated that the Mi Note 2 will come with two variants. One will sport 6GB RAM and 64GB of onboard storage while the premium version will come with the same 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage. Leaks show that the phone will come with a metallic body, an AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 821 SoC and a decent 3600mAh battery unit. It is believed that the two variants will be valued at CNY 2,499 and CNY 2,799, respectively.
