Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium Marshmallow

Owners of Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium smartphones living in Canada can finally have something to smile about as the Japanese company has announced that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update that was stopped earlier is now back on track.

Last month, users of the high-end Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium on Canada’s Bell network were stopped from updating their devices to the latest Android operating system after numerous complaints had hit the company’s website with regards to this update. The initial update went live on March 23, however, it was halted a few days later thanks to issues such as the inability to access the Google Play Store, among other issues.

Of course, software updates are usually associated with their own ups and downs. However, the fact that Sony went to the extent of stopping the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium Marshmallow software updates meant that the problems being encountered were grave serious. Back then, the company warned that the update is no longer available and that it will advise on when users can get the update again. Well, this is it as the company has, through the company’s official Twitter account, revealed that those using this flagship from last year can now upgrade the software to the latest version.

The update will definitely not come to all Bell users of Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium at once. However, there is a way you can check out the update manually. Just go to the device’s settings and check for the availability of the update. If it’s ready, go ahead and download it and then install it.

Android Pay, Doze and other features of Android Marshmallow

Android 6.0 Marshmallow has a lot that it comes with to Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium smartphones. Users of these gadgets will finally get to do more with their fingerprint sensors thanks to the Android Pay mobile payment system that comes buried deep into this new OS. If you’ve heard of Apple Pay, this is actually the same thing, but this one runs on Android Marshmallow-powered devices by default, allowing users to make mobile transactions by simply tapping their phones. The fingerprint sensor comes in when authorizing the payments, which essentially does away with the dependency on passcodes and passwords.

Another very important feature that Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium owners will enjoy after updating to the new OS is Doze mode. This is basically an advanced power saving mode which prevents the phone from using background resources when not in actual use. There is also Google Now on Tap, which is an enhanced version of the usual Google Now. With this functionality, users can easily hold down the home button and immediately be provided with relevant information with respect to what is being displayed.

Other goodies included in the latest Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium Android 6.0 Marshmallow update are Quick Connect feature, enhanced app permissions system and bug fixes. All of these are meant to improve your Android experience.
