Chinese companies have never been the best when it comes to rolling out software updates, but Android 7.0 Nougat has seen a different response from this region’s powerhouses.
Those using the ZTE Axon 7 and any of OnePlus 3 or the newer OnePlus 3T can now smile the trio are now being updated to the latest Android 7.1 Nougat. While those using the ZTE flagship will receive a stable version of this new OS, those on the OnePlus phones can only do with the beta version, an indicator that the stable release is not so far away.
The ZTE Axon 7 update brings software version ZTE_A2017V1.1.0B09 and this is based on the latest MiFavor UI 4.2 skin. This has been confirmed for those in China, but it appears that the base version has build number ZTE_A2017V1.0.0B13. Prior to this update, ZTE had confirmed that once the Axon 7 flagship is updated to the latest Android 7.1 Nougat OS, Daydream VR support will also be part of it.
As noted, this update is only available in China as at the time of this writing, but it should start spreading to other regions sooner than later. The story is the same for OnePlus 3 and 3T, but these two are only able to receive Android 7.1 Nougat beta, but it won’t be long before the stable version hits the duo.
Interestingly, the update is only rolling out to the models with the HydrogenOS-based OnePlus 3 and 3T models, leaving out those using the original OxygenOS. However, since we also know that the former skin is only available in China and OxygenOS is meant for the global market, those on the latter should keep exercising their patience just a little bit. Still, you can grab the Chinese version of the update and install it on your phone if patience isn’t your game. It weighs about 1.32GB.
If you are using OnePlus 3, the new Android 7.1 Nougat is available on beta 9 while those using the latest OnePlus 3T can get the same on beta 3.
