2016 Moto X Coming in Two Variants – Vector Thin and Vertex

2016 Moto X

It is almost going to be a year since the arrival of the current generation Moto X.

Available in variations like Moto X Play and Moto X Style, the phone has been a flag bearer for Motorola in 2015 and 2016. The company, though, are preparing for the latest generation Moto X if reports are to be believed. Leaked pictures claiming to be the design of the next generation Moto X came as early as December 2015. Now, those leaks are starting to be considered as the real deal with a number of rumors since then suggesting the same.

The rumors have gone one better by revealing specifications of the upcoming Moto X 2016. A major talking point of the device could be the thickness, which is expected to be just 5.2 mm! Yes, the new Moto X maybe one of the thinnest high-profile devices in the market by a considerable margin. One of the sacrifices for the thin body maybe battery size, which is reportedly a 2600 mAh battery. It remains to be seen if this will be sufficient to handle a screen size of 5.5 inches, which is slightly smaller from the previous generation.

The same QHD resolution will continue to prevail, thus meaning an even better pixel density of 520 PPI compared to the current generation. The phone will have 3 or 4 GB of RAM along with 32 GB of internal storage. Just as with the 2015 Moto X which was available in two variants, the 2016 edition is expected to be sold as Vector Thin and Vertex. The specifications above are believed to be the upcoming Moto X Vector Thin or the Style variant as it is today.

The replacement for the Moto X Play will come through the Vertex, which is expected to have a 5.5 inch full HD display with AMOLED technology. This variant is expected to be the big seller for those who want better battery life, as the reported 3500 mAh battery is quite sufficient compared to the Vector Thin’s 2600 mAh battery. The bigger battery is expected to reason behind Vertex coming in at a thickness of 7 mm. Snapdragon’s 625 processor might do the job at the core.

Motorola are expected to continue with the huge customization options available with the current generation phones. They are currently available magnetically-connecting backplates.
