Samsung Galaxy A series is about to receive major upgrades with the upcoming 2017 models. Being a midrange family, many expect that the phones will come with similarly midrange specs and features, but Samsung has other ideas on the table.
According to reports coming from South Korea, the tech giant is set to equip the 2017 Samsung Galaxy A series with a bunch of high-end hardware features as well as specs, but this will not affect the midrange pricing of the phones.
One feature that has been mentioned in the reports is dust and water resistance feature with a rating of IP68. In case you didn’t know, this is the same certification that is found on the flagship Samsung Galaxy S7 and its S7 Edge counterpart. With this feature on board, the 2017 Samsung Galaxy handsets will be able to be keep working even after spending up to 30 minutes in water that is about 1.5 meters deep.
Of course, no one would intentionally deep their smartphone in water and let it there for up to 30 minutes. However, having such a feature on board means that you don’t have to worry about getting wet with the phone on you, receiving or making calls when in the shower, capturing photos and videos when it’s raining or even using the phone by the poolside.
Samsung is expected to launch three Galaxy A 2017 series handsets – the Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, and the Galaxy A7. The trio will reportedly ship with the same IP68 certification, at least according to the latest reports, but it is only the high-end Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 that can be guaranteed this feature.
Latest leaks have shown that the 2017 Samsung Galaxy A series will have a lot in common with this year’s Samsung Galaxy S7 as far as looks are concerned. However, do not expect anything close to the Galaxy S7 Edge’s dual-edge screen for this is a feature meant for the high-end Galaxy S and Galaxy Note family. In terms of colors, there will be Rose Gold, Silver, Black and Gold color variants. It has also been pointed out that Samsung will ship this year’s A series with a 16MP snapper on the back and front. Whether this will appear on the trio or high-end A7 2017 model alone can only be answered with time.
In a recent leak, several features of the Galaxy A7 2017 have surfaced. These include a 5.7-inch Full HD screen, a RAM of 3GB, 32GB storage, water resistance, 3600mAh battery capacity as well as 16MP snapper. However, there is still no word from Samsung regarding this development or even when we can expect to see the three phones launched.
As for the pricing, the 2017 Samsung Galaxy A series will be valued at about $450 or less depending on the model.
