When a new 2017 Volkswagen Polo is scheduled for launch this year, it is obvious that a GTI edition will follow.
Based on the speculations, the car is expected to be much more powerful in terms of specifications when compared with the outgoing model.
The information available with regards to the GTI edition is sparse. However, an inside source has confirmed that the car will have a 2.0-liter TSI engine under the hood which will be capable of producing about 197 horsepower. On paper, this model is pretty much faster than the current model and should be a worthy addition to the GTI lineup. The current edition produces about 189 horsepower which is definitely not slow but the new Polo GTI will go strongly against the Ford Fiesta ST. The Ford car uses a 1.5-liter three cylinder engine and can go from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 6.7 seconds. Sometimes, it can achieve the same in less than six seconds based on the surface in which the car is being tested.
An added advantage this time around is the revised MQB A0-based platform Volkswagen is going with. The car has a couple of useful features including XDS electronic differential lock, adaptive dampers and sport settings to bring the best out of the engine. Some of these functionalities are already found in the current GTI model while others are new designed to offer the best of comfort and speed for the buyers.
While speculations are still rife with regards to the comfort level of the 2017 Volkswagen Polo GTI and the performance, the confirmation that it will use a 2.0-liter engine is the best of them all. With this confirmed update, VW has already cemented a strong base for the 2017 car which will be a strong competitor to other models from their competitors and at times may exceed the performance level.
Unique features with many exclusive additions found in the 2017 Polo GTI will include racy alloys, GTI trimmings, sports suspension and others. Analysts predict that the car will not be groundbreaking in terms of design but could be a gamechanger in the performance department. We will know more about the looks before the official launch when Volkswagen is expected to show the car in person. It still features the familiar honeycomb grille, large wheels and a bumper that adds up to the aggressive looks.
The 2017 Volkswagen Polo GTI is expected to be priced at £20,000 and will arrive in stores after other cars in the series get launched.
