The 2016 Los Angeles motor show witnessed the launch of many notable models and the 2018 Genesis G80 Sport is one among them that had a really subtle debut at the brand’s booth.

The car was earlier known as the Hyundai Genesis and has now been renamed with some minor tweaks for the U.S. audience. The model first came into dealership stores in South Korea and is now making its way to other markets. Under the bonnet, the car is powered by a 3.3-liter twin turbo V6 engine capable of delivering up to 365 horsepower combined with 376 lb feet of torque. The powertrain is mated to an eight speed automatic transmission system and it also houses a new shift by wire technology for the fastest transmission possible. The car is equipped with continuous damping control and uses a rear wheel drive system by default which can be upgraded to an all-wheel drive.

A great deal of visual upgrades ensure that the 2018 Genesis G80 Sport differentiates it from the previous models. All trimline variants feature dark chrome exterior trim with copper colored accents, carbon fiber trim on the inside and leather sport seats. The car is equipped with large 19-inch black alloy wheels with aluminum sport pedals. Besides, the manufacturer now offers two different color choices to pick from, the Sevilla Red and the Polar Ice. They are exclusive to this particular trimline.

For maximum comfort and connectivity, the G80 Sport has a large 9.2-inch touchscreen system to use the infotainment setup and has a premium music system from the Lexicon brand. The LED headlights have dynamic bending capability, it supports wireless phone charging, satellite navigation and a 360 degree camera that makes it easy to park the car in tight spots. It also gives the driver a clear view of the surroundings when on the move.

The 2018 Genesis G80 Sport is just one of many as the company has been expanding its lineup with newer models including a more powerful variant with a 5.0-liter V8 engine. Safety features found in the vehicle include lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert and start-stop function. Some of the features including the additional camera and bending LED lights can be adopted in the lower trim levels of the Genesis G80 models as an add-on package.
