The McLaren models have a strong tradition of being tested in UK roads.
This time, the 2018 McLaren 650S was spotted much ahead of its official reveal by spy photographers.
Leaked pictures of concept models and upcoming cars is not an entirely new scenario for the automobile industry. But, catching one of the fastest cars on the road is no easy task. The upcoming model is scheduled for launch two years later while the 570S Spider will arrive in just a couple of months in 2017.
Compared to the last spy shots, the latest version of the car has some minor modifications made to it. It looks as if the designers have made some adjustments to the height even though it runs and has a sleek profile which can easily be associated with the McLaren brand. The car is heavily camouflaged as expected and reveals very little in terms of design. Based on updates, it has been confirmed that the new 2018 model will be the replacement for the two-year old 650S already in the market.
The dihedral doors found in the previous edition has been carried forward with the new model and we can also expect the car to use a lot of green as well as orange color tones. They are prominently used with all McLaren models and this one should be no different. The shoulders are now modified combined with oval exhausts and some of the style elements are borrowed from both the 570S and the 675LT.
Under the hood, the McLaren car will be powered by a 3.8-liter twin turbocharged engine and should be able to render more than the 641 horsepower the current model produces. The Maranello super car can go from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 3.0- seconds with about 660 horsepower. The new 2018 edition is supposed to break all these barriers and set new benchmarks for the near future.
The engineers at McLaren are also expected to make a lot of tweaks in order to improve the aerodynamics of the car, reduce overall weight and make modifications to its shape so as to contribute to its speed. After the original hardtop edition goes on sale, the auto brand will also come up with a soft top variant of the car. There is no confirmed release date for the convertible variant of the 650S which could be towards the end of 2018 or much later.
