It has been a while since HTC One M9 and One A9 started receiving Android 7.0 Nougat in the U.S. In fact, the One M9 started receiving the update in 2016, but it is only now that those using these two phones from Mexico can share the joy.
Through its Facebook page, HTC Mexico has confirmed that the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update is now available to download for the two 2015 phones. HTC One M9 is the flagship model while the One A9 comes in as the midrange version. Later on, these two will also be joined by the HTC One A9S, but the date is not known for this A9 variant, only that it will be announced “in the next few days.”
HTC has been busy lately with spreading the Nougat love to different markets across the globe. Not so long ago, we saw those in Chile and Slovakia receive the HTC 10 Nougat treat. However, the company only promised to do the same for HTC One M9, One A9 and One A9S will be getting the update very soon.
With HTC being one of the first OEMs to unveil Android Nougat-powered phones, with the first coming in 2016 in the form of HTC Bolt or HTC 10 Evo and the latest happened in January, where the HTC U Ultra and U Play joined the party. It was inevitable that already existing phones will also be among the first to receive the OTA update. As noted at the beginning, HTC One M9 started receiving the Nougat treat in 2016, but this rollout, like many others, is usually gradual and based on regions.
If you are in Mexico and own an HTC One M9 or One A9 yet the Nougat notification hasn’t hit your device, you can either wait or try doing a manual check via Settings>About device>System updates. Do make sure your phone is connected to the internet via Wi-Fi and that the battery is at least 50% charged before you begin the upgrade.
