Rumor: Samsung Galaxy A 2017 May Get Snapdragon 626/653 Processor Variants

Samsung Galaxy A3 2017

Samsung Galaxy A 2017 came to life in early January and since then, this family has been a revelation in the markets that it has already started selling.

The Galaxy A 2017 family is made of three phones – Galaxy A3 2017, Galaxy A5 2017 and Galaxy A7 2017. Where the last two share a lot, the A3 2017 is quite different, but it still keeps some of the high-end cues of its counterparts. While these phones have some of the best design and hardware specs you can find in a midranger, they have one shortcoming – they only come with Exynos processors.

In order to sale in markets such as the U.S., a Qualcomm processor is one of the requirements. In fact, this is one thing that has hindered the likes of Huawei from bringing their flagships into the U.S. market since they use in-house Kirin chipsets. But there could be changes looming as far as the Huawei P10 series is concerned.

Interestingly, Samsung has been selling Snapdragon variants in China in the recent past and so far, it seems the same is set to happen for the new Samsung Galaxy A 2017 family. The entry-level Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 ships with an Exynos 7870 SoC while the other two Galaxy A 2017 handsets come in with an Exynos 7880 octa-core processor. If the latest rumors are to be believed, these phones could be unveiled in China with Snapdragon 626 or Snapdragon 653 processor running the show.

At the moment, it cannot be confirmed which phone will use which processor or if only a single SoC will be the chosen one. However, the launch of Snapdragon-powered Samsung Galaxy A 2017 handsets could also suggest that this family could eventually make it to the U.S. at some point in the coming days. So far, the Galaxy A 2017 family will not be coming to the U.S.

Major highlights of Samsung Galaxy A 2017 series are an IP68-certified body, Samsung Pay and 16MP+16MP front and rear cameras, but the camera part only applies to the Galaxy A5 2017 and A7 2017. As for the A3 2017, the back has a 13MP camera while the front comes with an 8MP shooter. In terms of display, the A3 is also the smallest at 4.7 inches followed by the A5 at 5.2 inches. As for the A7, you get a huge 5.7-inch panel. There’s 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage on these two, but the A3 gets 2GB RAM and 16GB storage.
