Android 7.1.2 Nougat OTA Rolling out to Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and Android One Phones

Google Nexus 6P Android 7.1.2 Nougat

Google has started rolling out the latest stable version of Android 7.1.2 Nougat to the likes of Google Pixel and Pixel XL, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Android One, Nexus Player as well as the Pixel C tablet.

The tech giant started testing the OS back in January and not so long ago, a second beta was made available to those participating in the beta program. Google has not done away with the beta program, with the OTA update now rolling out to all eligible devices.

As usual, the search engine giant has made everything easy for those who feel that waiting for the OTA notification is not their thing. If you are okay with flashing factory images to your phone or tablet, the company has already published these files for you to download them. You can also grab the OTA files from the company’s servers and install them directly on your phone.

Unlike the case with Android 7.1.1 Nougat, the currently rolling out Android 7.1.2 Nougat is not supported on the likes of Google Nexus 6 and both versions of the Google Nexus 9 tablet. These two devices will no longer be receiving a major Android update, instead, they’ll only be receiving monthly security updates.

For those using the Google Pixel and Nexus devices from 2015 onwards, there’s nothing to worry about, even if the OTA notification doesn’t show up on your phone today. According to Google, this update to Android 7.1.2 Nougat will be rolled out gradually over the coming weeks and other than coming in with a new version of the OS, it also carries several bug fixes, new features, general stability and performance enhancements as well as the latest monthly security patch for the month of April.

Google Pixel 2 WaterproofUsers of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL should watch out for an Android 7.1.2 Nougat OTA update that carries software version N2G47E or N2G47J while those using the Google Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X will be receiving firmware version N2G47H and N2G47F, respectively. As for the Google Pixel C and Nexus Player, you get versions N2G47D and N2G47H, respectively.

As noted earlier, those who can’t wait for the OTA notification to hit their devices can grab the latest Android 7.1.2 Nougat OTA and factory image files via the official Google websites below.
