Android Marshmallow Update Rolls Out to Sony Xperia Z5 Globally

Sony Xperia Z5 owners all over the world have started receiving the much awaited Android 6.0 Marshmallow update; this is according to emerging reports.

Few days ago, reports had it that Xperia Z5 owners in Japan had started receiving the latest Google Android 6.0 firmware. Reports indicate that the software update is now globally rolling out to Xperia Z5. Sony Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Premium owners might as well anticipate the update on their devices.

Since the start of the year, the roll out of the Android M update to various devices has been on the steady rise. Various OEMs and carriers have been in the upfront of pushing the Android 6.0 update to their respective devices and subscribers. LG, Samsung, Motorola, and HTC are among device manufacturers that have been noted to be pushing the update to their customers.

Apparently, it appears that Sony has offered much attention to the Z5 line of devices when it comes to pushing the Marshmallow update. Interestingly, despite there being a much more recent Android update, known as Android 6.0.1; the Japanese manufacturer is only pushing the Android 6.0 update to the Z5 series of devices.

Apart from Japan, Xperia Z5 users in Thailand and Russia reportedly started receiving the Android 6.0 update recently. Further reports have it that Android 6.0 update has started hitting both the unlocked and carrier editions of the Z5 series of devices in Austria, Malaysia, Australia and Ireland. This ideally hints on Sony’s probable confirmed official global rollout of the update to the Z5 range of devices.

Released last year in October, Sony Xperia Z5 is a perfectly designed handset with high-end specs. The Z5 boasts of a 5.2-inch IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. The screen is oleophobic protected, scratch resistant with a triluminos display and supporting multitouch of up to ten fingers.

Having the IP68 certification, the Xperia Z5 is dust and water proof. The device is powered with Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 810 chipset with four cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and the other four having a speed of 2.0 GHz. Having a RAM of 3GB, the smartphone has internal memory storage of 32GB with an expandable dedicated microSD card slot support of up to 200GB. Z5 packs a 23MP main snapper with a number of cool features that include PDAF, LED flash, geo-tagging, panorama, face detection and HDR among others. The front camera is of 5.1MP.

The arrival of this update on Sony Xperia Z5 will actually boost the performance of this device and give users an excellent and quality experience.
