Android N Preview: Google Discounts Pixel C to Allow More Testers on Board

Android N

Android N is now headed into its second month since Google released it for developer testing. The OS has gotten many excited thanks to the range of goodies it promises to add to the already exciting Android Marshmallow OS.

Up to now, it is not yet known what Google will call this OS. Names such as Nutella and Nougat have been touted as potential candidates, however, it is only time that will tell.

Even though other devices such as Samsung Galaxy Note 5, S6 and S6 Edge will eventually receive the final version of Android N, the developer preview version is currently compatible with a select list of devices. For starters, there is non-Google smartphone or tablet that can work with the software. In order to use this OS, one needs to be using any of the latest Google Nexus smartphones, the Nexus Player or the Google Pixel C tablet.

Google Pixel C available at a 25% discount

With the Pixel C being on the list of the compatible devices, Google has decided to offer the tablet at a discounted price so as to allow more testers to come on board. However, this offer is not available all over the world, but just for developers in a few select countries.

If you are an Android developer and live in any of the following countries:  Switzerland, Spain, the Netherlands, Austria, Germany, Belgium, France and Canada, there is some good news for you. You can now buy a new Google Pixel C tablet and take advantage of the new Android N developer preview before others get it.

This is not the initial launch of this offer. It has been around for a while, but it only existed in five countries that include the U.S., UK, New Zealand, Australia and Ireland. Google wants to encourage developers to create apps to run on Android N using this tablet.

Apparently, the Google Pixel C tablet is not just discounted for developers alone. Some consumers have reportedly been able to take advantage of this offer yet they are not qualified developers.

The Pixel C tablet is a feature-packed tablet that comes with top-notch design and hardware components, among them a 64-bit Nvidia Tegra X1 chipset, a RAM of 3GB and has two storage variants of 32GB and 64GB.

If you want to use the Pixel C as a laptop, you can get a laptop dock. However, this accessory is not part of the developer discount. As such, you’ll have to cash out an extra $150 in order to get it.

  1. I have between wanting a tablet for light productivity and general tablet use. I am not a developer however I took advantage of the other from Google and picked up a Pixel C with a keyboard. I immediately installed Android N for the multi window feature. Everything seems to be running very far smooth. There multi window and keyboard makes the Pixel C an awesome tablet for general productivity.
