Google Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X users are already up and running with Android Nougat, however, other eligible devices are still struggling to get the new OS.

The developer preview version of Android Nougat was available for a number of handsets other than Google Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X. The likes of Google Nexus 6 as well as some Android One or General Mobile 4G devices were also eligible for the OS. As a result, it also means that these devices are on the list of those devices already using Android Nougat. However, Google has kept the rollout process slow, with only last year’s models leading the way.

While this is happening, GSM Arena is reporting that the 2nd-generation Android One handsets have already begun receiving Android Nougat update. This news comes in after a Cherry Mobile One G1 handset was seen running on the new OS – a device that is controlled by Google in the same manner it does with the Nexus lineup. In short, Android One devices are usually among the first to receive any software updates from Google, although they are second to Nexus handsets.

Coming in as an OTA update, the new Android Nougat update for Android One phones weighs about 750MB and as such, make sure you get a strong Wi-Fi connection for downloading the package. As usual, such a software package shouldn’t reach all devices at once, instead, the process will be going on for the next few days. This means that you shouldn’t have anything to worry you just in case there is no OTA notification on your Android One phone.

Some of the new additions you will be getting from the new Android Nougat update over the outgoing Android Marshmallow include improved notifications where you will be able to do more from the notification shade, enhanced power management, new emojis, better system performance as well as multi-window operations, just to name but a few.

For those not familiar with the Cherry Mobile One G1 handset, the phone packs a 5-inch HD display screen with 720p resolution. Under the hood, you get a Snapdragon 410 SoC that is paired with a RAM of 2GB. You get a 13MP snapper on the back of this Android One phone while the selfie camera stands at 5MP. To keep it alive, there is a capable 2500mAh battery unit. You also get to enjoy 4G LTE connectivity, dual-SIM cards and many other great features.
