This is not the first time ASUS has showcased its latest products at the Computex Electronics show. It happens every other year and this year, it got even better as the company unveiled a series of new smartphones that happen to be the best-looking devices yet to be released by the Taiwanese OEM.
The good side of the story is that unlike Samsung that is known for its pricey products that boast of mid-range specs, ASUS’ latest smartphones will definitely give you the bang you need for your buck. While in most cases the base models of every smartphone family happen to be the most unattended to in terms of almost every aspect, the case is a little different with the new ASUS ZenFone 3 series.
The base model is the ASUS ZenFone 3, which happens to be the best-looking device from the trio. The phone is valued at just $249 and you will feel premium with the phone’s spun-metal finish on the rear. To crown the already premium feel the device offers, ASUS went for a combination of metal and glass instead of the plastic material that has been dominating its past devices.
The base model will give you 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage, something that shouldn’t make complain at all when the price is put into the matter. The phone is powered by a new Snapdragon 625 SoC and even though it’s a mid-range processor, Qualcomm promises some really solid performance from this chipset. Still, we might need some real world tests before jumping to any conclusions.
According to the spec sheet on offer, the ZenFone 3 Deluxe is the high-end model. Unlike the standard ZenFone 3, the Deluxe variant features a metal unibody design with a curved rear to aid with easy handling. You will struggle to find the antenna lines on the ZenFone 3 Deluxe because somehow ASUS has managed to cover them up, leaving a small bit visible via the chamfer.
The ZenFone 3 Deluxe packs a Super AMOLED screen that promises great views even during the day. Under the hood, you will get a Snapdragon 820 SoC that is supported by a RAM of 6GB and has onboard storage of 32GB. The ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe will set you back $499.
As for the Ultra model, you get a huge 6.8-inch screen that promises plenty of watching room, however, the design seems to let this phablet down. It features a flat metal unibody with the only decoration being a chamfer. Unlike the rest of the pack whose volume rockers appear on the side, the ZenFone 3 Ultra has them on the back, similar to the ZenFone 2. Another strange difference is that while the three handsets have fingerprint sensors, the ZenFone 3 and ZenFone 3 Deluxe have the scanner on the back while the ZenFone 3 Ultra has the same located on the front side.
Even though the Ultra model has a huge 4600mAh battery capacity, you will have to carry a huge weight of 233g. However, you should be pleased with the phone’s price tag of $479, which gets you a Snapdragon 652 SoC, a RAM of 4GB and onboard storage of 64GB. These specs should be good for everyday use.
