Asus, ZenPad 3 8.0, 7.9 inches Unveiled Sans Fanfare with USB, Type C Port – Brings Nothing Extraordinary to the Table

Asus has unveiled the ZenPad 3 8.0, which is a non Verizon variant. However, the company has not revealed the price or the availability of the device as of now.

The dimensions of the tab are 205.4 x 136.4 x 7.57 mm and it has a weight of 320 grams. It is a nice looking tablet, but does not bring any extraordinary features to the table. The unveiling of the new tablet was a surprise to fans, as it was unforeseen and came about very quietly with little fanfare.

Compelling Device

The company has introduced several compelling devices in 2016 and the ZenFone 3 lineup has been impressive. The ZenPad 3 8.0 is similar to the ZenPad Z8, but it is not an Verizon exclusive. The Zenpad 3 8.0 and the ZenPad Z8 are very similar, but the new device is not exclusive to Verizon alone. Another difference is that the Verizon Z8 has a RAM of only 2 GB and comes with 16 GB of storage. The new ZenPad 8 3.0 offers cinematic visuals and audio features.

The sale of tablets is rather dull, but heavyweights like Asus continually turn out such tabs. The ZenPad 3 8.0 is an example of a tab released by the Chinese Manufacturer, unveiled with not much fanfare. The design is not spectacular but rather industrial.

Specs and Details

The ZenPad 3 8.0 comes with a screen display of 7.9 inches and   resolution, of 2048 x 1536 pixels. The screen also has a coating that is anti fingerprint. The screen uses LCD technology display.

A hexa core, Qualcomm Snapdragon, 650 processor and it clocks at a speed of 1.8 GHz. It is paired with a graphics card, Adreno 510 and the phone runs on Android, 6.0, Marshmallow OS. The system has an overlay of Zen user interface 3.0. The battery is removable and powered at 4680 mAh, capable of offering 11 hours battery life.

Two Versions

The new ZenPad 3 8.0 is available in two versions, a 2 GB RAM with 16 GB of internal storage and another 4 GB RAM with 32 GB internal storage. The memory of the device can be expanded to a maximum of 128 GB using the microSD card. The device comes with a rear camera of 8 MP and a front camera of 5 MP for selfies and video calls. As far as connectivity is concerned, it offers several options, namely, 4G/LTE and Wi Fi 802.11 ac/b/g/n. In addition, there is Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS, AGPS, GLONASS with a USB Type C port. It also has an e compass sensor, a gyro and stereo speakers.

Extras

Asus offers 5 GB cloud storage for life and also an extra 11 GB for a year along with 100 GB space of Google Drive for a period of two years. The price of the new device is not yet known, but for reference sake, the earlier Z8 Verizon model came at a price o $250 without contract.
