BenQ has launched an affordable gaming monitor which will be adored by most gamers as the GW2480 gets the job done and has all the ports one would expect from such a device.
Priced at just $139, the BenQGW2480 is a full HD monitor with a resolution of 1920×1080. Considering the screen size which is 23.8-inches, the resolution is more than enough to produce crisp images especially if you are into more of gaming at all times.
A unique aspect of the monitor is that it sports a near bezel-less display just like the smartphones of today. Slim and thin monitors are always great to look at especially for gamers or users who have invested in a great desk, speakers as well as some aesthetic add-ons to their setup. Large bezels often make the monitors look too big than what they really are but the thinner bezels create a more compact footprint.
The newly launched budget monitor has a 1000:1 contrast ratio with 250 cd/m2 brightness level. However, if you are looking for the best refresh rate and response time, this is not the display you are looking for. It comes with a 5msGTG response time and has great view angles pegged at 178/178.
Almost all monitors come with in-built speakers but they are usually not the way to listen to music or watch movies. BenQ does provide built-in stereo speakers in the GW2480 model and provides all the basic ports one would expect including a single HDMI port, one Display port and one D-sub port. If you are planning to buy multiple versions of this same monitor and setup an immersive gaming panel, you should probably make use of the other ports as it has only one HDMI port in it.
The full HD BenQ model makes use of brightness intelligence technology and is flicker free. It considerably reduces the blue light emitted by the display ensuring that users don’t get eye strain even if they have to work for hours without taking a break. Even gamers do it all the time as most gaming sessions could easily last 5 hours or even more based on the type of game that you are going to get yourself into.
For $139, the BenQ GW2480 is a great addition and an easy purchase rather than going for expensive 4K monitors. The display is expected to get launched in the United States, Europe and select markets on December 10th.
