BMW has been celebrating their centenary year in a big way.
Even though the company were disappointed by the first quarter results that saw Mercedes become the world’s number-one luxury maker by dethroning BMW after a decade, BMW have announced a slew of models that will celebrate their 100 years in the industry. The flagship 7 series sedan has received a makeover, but in very limited numbers, to celebrate this occasion.
The BMW M760i has been specifically chosen for this task. It has been renamed as “BMW Individual M760i xDrive Model V12 Excellence THE NEXT 100 YEARS”. The car maybe awkwardly named, but its exclusivity and features are certainly captivating. First and foremost, it will be powered by a massive V12 engine with twin turbo charges developing more than 600 bhp. This should be good enough to propel the hefty sedan from 0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds. These are numbers that few sports cars can dream about.
The model, though, is not just about performance and BMW have concentrated heavily on making this rare product special. There will be just 100 of these made by BMW and only five are coming to the United States. There will be “THE NEXT 100 YEARS” badging in the interior. Buyers of the vehicle will receive a custom designed Montblanc fountain pen. These are some of the special aspects of the vehicle, which also has the usual gadgetry found in the regular 7 series.
They include self-parking, executive rear seats that provide first-class level comforts by automatically folding the front passenger seat, and ambient air package. The latter keeps the cabin fresh with an array of perfumes to choose from. These perfumes are then dispersed through the vehicle’s air-conditioner. The 7 series can also double up as the office due to the presence of a foldable table for rear passengers. No matter which traffic that the car maybe stuck in, the in-house Wi-Fi connectivity makes it easy to transform the 7 series into a proper office.
BMW Individual have made several touches to the car, which will be available in a unique Centennial Blue Metallic paint. The interiors feature full Merino leather trim. Yet, it is a major surprise that BMW charging customers for having options like Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System, rear seat entertainment, Welcome Light Carpet, and active seat ventilation.
