There’s no better time than buying a flagship smartphone after it has been on the market for six or so months. If you were put off by the initial asking prices of the Sony Xperia XZ and LG G5, well, this is the best time to get yourself one of these – or even both.
The Sony Xperia XZ and LG G5 are products of 2016. The latter was released in Q2 2016 while the former came to life in Q3 2016 courtesy of the IFA 2016. Being flagship phones, the duo was available for no less than $650, with the Xperia XZ taking this price tag to a massive $700 at launch. But as at the time of this writing, you can have both phones at less than the original price of one thanks to discounts at B&H, eBay and Newegg.
If you are into VR, the deal at B&H is worth looking at. Here, you not only get to save an impressive $230 from the original price of $530 for the LG G5, but you also get a free LG 360 VR headset. Usually, this headset would have set you back about $130, which brings the total savings to a massive $360. For those who don’t fancy the LG VR headset, there’s an even better deal at Newegg. Here, the LG G5 will set you back just $280, down from the usual $500, meaning you save a cool $120.
Considering that the LG G5 did not receive the best reviews in addition to the fact that LG phones have recently been affected by the bootloop issue, some might not fancy these deals regardless of how good they are. If you are among those who are not into the LG G5, you might like the current deal on the Sony Xperia XZ flagship.
As noted earlier, the Xperia XZ made its debut priced at $700. However, the phone has now been discounted to an impressive $370. This deal is available on eBay via Bayshine Store, with the seller enjoying a positive feedback of 98.7%, but unlike the LG G5, this Xperia XZ phone in question is not new.
For a recap of the features, the LG G5 and Sony Xperia XZ have the same Snapdragon 820 SoC running the show, but the former has a 4GB RAM as opposed to the latter’s 3GB RAM. The storage is also the same at 32GB with room to expand it and the screen sizes are almost the same at 5.3 inches for the G5 and 5.2 inches for the XZ. The G5 has a QHD resolution while the XZ has a Full HD resolution.
In terms of cameras, the LG G5 gives you a dual-lens setup of 16MP+8MP on the back and an 8MP selfie shooter while the Sony Xperia XZ has a 23MP main camera on the back alongside a 13MP lens for selfies. The battery keeping the G5 alive is a 2800mAh unit that is removable while the Xperia XZ has a 2900mAh unit that is inbuilt. Both have support for fast charging technology, although the Xperia XZ gets an upper hand with its IP68-certified dust and water resistant body. Still, the G5’s modular design also makes it a little bit unique, although not so many people enjoyed this design.
Both phones are unlocked for GSM use in the U.S., meaning those on Verizon and Sprint cannot take advantage of these deals. Note that the LG G5 deal on Newegg is limited to time.
