The social networking giant has confirmed that it will be rolling out its Live Video feature soon to the desktop version of Facebook. Facebook Live Video is currently available for iOS and Android-based mobile devices only.

A Facebook representative had confirmed that the company will soon introduce the Live Video feature so that people can broadcast live on Facebook from their laptop or desktop.  According to Social Times, a Facebook user used this feature on her laptop and had recently posted a live video too. She also explained the steps on how to start a Facebook Live on a desktop in her video. Social Times also cited that according to an official from Facebook, the company has introduced this feature in response to the demand from the vloggers, journalists, and others who had requested for this launch. The feature as of now is not available for everyone, but only for a very small group of users.  The feature should be introduced to the general public in the upcoming months.

How the Facebook Live Video Works

The Facebook Live will use the camera of the user’s laptop or desktop’s peripheral web camera device, to allow the user to go on live on the social media platform. Few more features like two-person broadcasting, scheduling, and MSQRD integration were rolled out recently for commercial purposes so that the people can use them along with Facebook Live.

A small status bar present at the top of the Facebook page, beside Photo/Video, will allow the user to start off with a Live video. The user will then have to punch in a comment and hit “Next”. This will lead the user to a secondary screen, which will look like a Google Hangout screen. The user can now adjust the camera of the laptop or the peripheral camera of the desktop and the microphone. Then a click on “Go Live” will start off a Facebook Live Video.

Facebook had acquired the MSQRD integration this year in March. This feature allows the user to use various filters and masks like Snapchat while going Live on Facebook. The social networking biggie has confirmed that these new features for Facebook Live will be available initially only to a set of verified users who are residing in the US. These features are expected to be gradually introduced to the non-verified users also around the world by this year, sometime in October or November.
