Land Rover has been busy making some much-needed additions to the Discovery Sport line-up especially in the United States.
The 2017 edition of the Discovery Sport will now come with several new features designed to appeal a larger section of the audience. The Land Rover has gone a long way into shedding its ruralimage in recent years. Models like the Range Rover Evoque have been extremely important in this aspect. For starters, this was one of the latest models after the company came under the hands of Indian motor giant Tata.
However, the English still had the Discovery in the line-up. In the past, this model was seen as the vehicle for those who cannot afford a Range Rover. This did not help the vehicle in terms of sales. The arrival of the Discovery Sport significantly moves the goalposts. Not only did the new generation Discovery Sport come with a plethora of modern features, but its decision to use an interior that is almost similar to the Range Rover Evoque is another brilliant hit. Land Rover will now just be hoping to price the vehicle brilliantly with the summer fast approaching.
Discovery Sport has been improved both internally and externally. The external changes are to aspects like the bumper and tailpipes. Most of the changes are for the HSE and HSE Lux variants, which receive black accents at the exterior of the vehicle. There are massive 20 inch wheels that have been given a glossy black finish. Interior wise, unique carpet mats are provided along with contrast stitching on the leather. The gearbox also gets double stitched leather.
Biggest visible change in the interior of the product is the addition of the new infotainment system. Bringing the Discovery Sport in line with cars like the Jaguar XF and XE, the use of the InControl Touch Pro infotainment system on a 10.2-inch screen makes massive difference. The system has already been one of the best to use in terms of touch response and overall response of the user’s face. The possibilities of the infotainment system doubling up as a smartphone only increase thanks to an amazing response.
The infotainment comes with the best set of apps, inbuilt solid-state drive, and a quad core processor. The vehicle will also be available in four new colours. Priced at $37,695 without destination or handling charges, the 2017 Discovery Sport will go on sale from August.
