Samsung has started rolling out the August 2024 security update for some of its smartphones in the past few weeks and is continuing to do so.
The security update for the Galaxy S20 series and S21 series essentially addresses 50+ security issues. The manufacturer is also simultaneously offering stability updates for its A52 series of handsets. The security update can be availed from the Software update section in the Settings app or downloaded manually and installed using Odin.
As for the stability update for the Galaxy A52 series, this can also be downloaded through the Software update or downloaded manually and installed using a Windows PC and a USB-C cable.
Samsung Galaxy S20 Series
Samsung has rolled out the security update for the carrier-unlocked Galaxy S20 series comprising the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ and the Galaxy S20 Ultra in the United States. This update is associated with the firmware version G981U1UESAHXG1.
Samsung has made the update available after releasing the same for the European variants of the smartphones. The carrier-locked models in the United States, international versions, and other variants will have to wait a while longer to receive the update.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Series
The manufacturer released the August 2024 security update a couple of weeks ago for the Galaxy S21 series featuring the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and the Galaxy S21 Ultra in the European and Asian markets. The update is now available for factory-unlocked models in the United States with firmware version G99xU1UEUCGXGB and is supported by any carrier network in the country.
While there are no performance enhancements or new features, there is a possibility that the update may incorporate a few bug fixes.
Samsung Galaxy A52 4G, A52 5G and A52s
Samsung has brought out a new update associated with firmware version A52xxXXU9GXH1 for its A52 4G, A52 5G and A52s smartphones in a few Asian countries. It is expected that countries in other regions will get the update very soon. The update focuses on general reliability and stability enhancements and do not include the Circle to Search Galaxy AI feature.
Interestingly, the Galaxy A52 4G and the carrier-locked A52 5G in the US with the model number SM-A526U received the August 2024 security update just a few days ago. The firmware version for the security update of Galaxy A52 5G is A526USQUEGXG4.
