South Korean tech giant Samsung has been rolling out the December 2024 security update over the past couple of weeks.
The update addresses several security-related issues and can be installed automatically or manually using the Odin tool on a Windows PC after doing a data backup. It can be installed automatically through the Settings app by clicking Download and install in the Software update section.
Galaxy S22 Series
The security update available for the Galaxy S22 series comprising the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra with model numbers SM-S901E, SM-S906E, and SM-S908E in various countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The update was released earlier in carrier-locked smartphones in the United States and Europe.
The Galaxy S22 is associated with the firmware S901EXXSBEXL2 while the Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra feature the firmware versions S906EXXSBEXL2 and S908EXXSBEXL2 respectively.
Galaxy S21 FE
The Galaxy S21 FE with the model number SM-G990E has started receiving the security update around three weeks after the Galaxy S21 lineup received the same. The update is likely to reach other variants soon. It is at present available for users in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.
The update for the smartphone features the firmware version G990EXXSCFXL2.
Galaxy Tab S9 FE 5G
The carrier-locked variants of the Galaxy Tab S9 FE 5G in the United States with the model number SM-X518U are at present eligible for the update. Other variants are expected to receive the update soon. So, users outside the country can hope to get the update soon. The tablet also supports the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update.
The security update is associated with the firmware version X518USQS8BXK6.
Galaxy Z Flip 4
The Galaxy Tab Z Flip 4 carrier-locked units in the United States featuring the model number SM-F721U can avail the security update. The smartphone also supports the One UI 7.0 update based on Android 15. The security update will soon be available for other variants of the smartphone in other countries.
The firmware comes with the build number F721USQS7GXKC.
