Both the S8 and the S8 Plus from Samsung will be introduced in the beginning of 2017, so here are some of the rumors about the release date, the specs and the prices.
S Series – Best Phone
The S Series of phones has been among the top smartphones and doing so well till the debacle of the Note 7. However, the company will be pulling out all stops possible and attempt to reverse the bad trend. Both the S8 and the S8 Plus are expected to come around the beginning of 2017.
The S8 and the S8 Plus are expected to have a UK release on the 26th of February, 2017. Samsung has typically favored the MWC trade show in spring for launching its S series for the past several years. The company usually announces its new offering in the Samsung Unpacked event before the show and the sales of the new phones start within two or three weeks of this.
It is expected that both the smartphones will be released on the above-mentioned date, but there is a small snag related to the Note 7 debacle. Samsung is anxious to get everything right with the new phone. It could result in a delay, as the company might go in for thorough testing. The launch could be delayed to April next year.
Powerful Hardware Specs
There are rumors that Samsung will power the new S8 and the S8 Plus with some powerful hardware specs. The phone will have mobile VR abilities and will come with dual camera setup, new fingerprint scanners and a new Samsung AI assistant.
S8 Edge, S8 Plus
The dual curved edges screen was previously available only for the Edge versions, but it might now be available for the standard version as well. There may not be much difference between the models in this regard. However, the main difference will be the size and the battery capacities as well as the camera. Samsung is possible going the way Apple has and call the advanced version, the S8 Plus instead of the S8 Edge.
Curved Edge Displays
The Korean Herald has backed this theory, saying that the company hinted that it would remove the regular flat screen model and use the edge model instead. The Korean Herald goes on to say that Samsung has sourced dual edged screens of both 5.1 inches and 5.5 inches. According to Koh Dong jin, head of Samsung Mobiles, the company is planning on making its edge displays as a trademark of the S lineup of phones.
The Bell of Korea also reports that the S8 standard model will come with 5.7 inches screen and the S8 Plus version in 6.2 inches screen, both having curved edge display. Earlier, the Korean media reports noted that Samsung has planned on releasing 5 flagship smartphones next year, including a Galaxy X, foldable phone. One will probably be a Note phone, so that makes it two or even three S8 phones.
