WhatsApp is the most used IM in the world right now. Through its messaging and calling services, the app has managed to attract a following of over 1 billion people from all parts of the world.
Despite all these, the chat app still lacks some really great features (or has limited them) – features that equally minded people have been busy adding to modified versions of the chat app. You’ve probably heard of WhatsApp Plus, an app that is an enhanced version of the original WhatsApp. But GBWhatsApp might be a newer name in your eyes (or ears). If you use a dual-SIM phone, this is the app you should be looking for.
Dual-SIM handsets are very common today, especially in the developing economies where users have to juggle between several carriers that offer different packages for calls, SMS, data and so on. In such a case, GBWhatsApp will let you have both of your SIM cards available on WhatsApp. It gets even better as the app offers the same features you find on the original app, in addition to a bunch of enhancements over the same.
As mentioned, GBWhatsApp comes in with enhanced offerings over the original version of WhatsApp. Even though the app is not available via the Google Play Store, it is still very stable on your mobile phone. Other than the ability to send messages of all sorts, it is also possible to make voice calls via GBWhatsApp, just like with the Facebook-owned version.
The app also offers extra privacy options that allow users to hide their online status, check groups’ stats, and even preview media without the need of actually downloading it on the phone. The latter feature has proved to be a great addition for the volumes who already use this chat app, especially now that storage space is becoming more and more crucial for smartphone owners.
GBWhatsApp users can copy and paste messages in the app, a feature that is essential for any IM. Unlike the original app, the clone app offers users with the ability to play around with the appearance of the home screen icon as well as notifications.
How to Download and Install GBWhatsApp?
As pointed out earlier, GBWhatsApp is not available in the Google Play Store. Instead, it is available through third party sites. Get this app downloaded using your PC or mobile phone. Remove the current WhatsApp from your phone (keep a backup) and find the downloaded installer package. Open it to start the installation.
Make sure you allow installation of apps from unknown sources from your Apps Settings. This will allow the GBWhatsApp APK to install on your Android device. Once it is installed, open it. The app will try to restore backed up data, but there is an option to skip this data recovery process. The rest of the steps are usual. You can set up a WhatsApp account for the second SIM card via this GBWhatsApp app. Once you are done, go back to the Google Play Store and download the official version. On this version, enter the first number that you were already using on WhatsApp. The chat app will ask to restore data and once it is done, you will be able to continue with your chats from where you left them.
Now, you have two WhatsApp accounts set up on your phone.
