It is reported that Samsung will launch its Gear S3, update to the Gear S2 released a year ago running the Tizen OS.
Samsung is gearing up to launch the product in the IFA event coming up in September this year.
Gear S3 Launch Details
According to reports from SamMobile, the S3 will come with rotary bezel, similar to the previous Gear S2. The company will release the device at the IFA 2016, an event that takes place in Berlin between the 2nd and the 7th of the month. It is on this platform that Samsung regularly launches its flagship devices, such as the Note series.
The Note 7 is likely to be launched in the Unpacked event to be held on 2nd of August, so it seems that the Gear S3 is going to be the only big launch of the year for the company at IFA.
Gear S2 Details
The Gear S2 was launched a year ago and it comes with a circular design of 1.2 inches. The display has a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels, with Super AMOLED technology. A Samsung Exynos, 3250, chip with dual core powers the device, clocking at a speed of 1 GHz. This is combined with a RAM of 512 MB and an internal storage of 4 GB.
Most of the specifications and the design of the Gear S3 are different from the S2, but some familiar features continue to remain. The rotary bezel continues to remain the same for the S2 and the S3. However, there is no news regarding the dimensions of the new S3.
A Pre Event
One of the details that have been confirmed is that the Gear S3 will surely make its appearance in the presentation at the IFA 2016. The event will be conducted from the 2nd September to 7th September, in Berlin. There will probably be a pre show event conducted and fans can probably view the S3 even on the 1st of the month. If the company hosts such an event, it will not be the first time it does. Samsung has also hosted such pre IFA events previously, during the unveiling of the Gear S2. It was done some days before the conference in 2015.
Wearable and Tab
The company has not yet unveiled the presentation plans related to the event this year. However, it is sure that Samsung will reveal a flagship wearable device and the Tab S3 this year. In addition, there is also confirmation regarding the launch of the Note 7 in an unpacked event to be held next week.
Rumors Heating Up
There were rumors some weeks back regarding the new smartwatch, Gear S3. The rumors stated that it would be round and was codenamed Solis. It would run on the Tizen OS. Later some pictures were leaded and posted in the Twitter account of Tizen Café, seen by SamMobile. The images showed a circular smartwatch, coming with metal bracelet and a fluted bezel, looking almost like a Rolex watch, with the words Gear S3 on it.
