Gears of War 4 can be pre-loaded on PCs and Xbox One consoles.
As expected, the developers have confirmed that players should download a day one patch if they buy the game on a physical disc.
Earlier, the team announced the game has gone gold. And, they didn’t discuss anything about a possible update on launch day. But, games these days always have one or other things that should be downloaded over the web. Some part can be attributed to the developers for missing out important files while a majority of it is on the publishers. They are keen to launch it on the specified date and make some money while minor issues can be fixed on a later date.
Gears of War 4 head Rob Fergusson was questioned on Twitter of a possible Day One patch. A random fan asked the size of file they had to download in order to play the game and he said zero. He didn’t disclose the fact that those who opted to purchase on a physical disc should download a large 11 gigabytes of data.
Fergusson missed to provide the details in his first tweet but he came back after a couple of minutes to clarify that digital copy owners don’t have to download anything but those with a disc do have a Day One patch.
Microsoft now allows players on both Xbox One consoles and PCs to pre-load the game. The Xbox copy is close to 52 gigabytes which we are not sure if comprises of the day one patch and the PC version including the patch is a solid 80 gigabytes of data. That’s plenty of bandwidth to spend. The game supports Xbox Play Anywhere option. People who buy the game digitally can choose to play it on an Xbox One or PC, as they please.
Before you pre-load the game on Windows 10 computers, make sure to download the latest update. It allows players to continue downloading Gears of War 4 from where they left off than having to do it from the start again. The update is mandatory if you don’t want to waste your bandwidth and get the full game in your first attempt.
