Gionee has just announced a successor to the Gionee S6, which was introduced last November.
The phone came with a 5.5 inch display with AMOLED technology and 720p resolution. As far as the processor was concerned, it came with a MT6753 processor and 3 GB of RAM. These were decent specifications but Gionee has taken no time to announce a replacement at the upper end of its portfolio. The Gionee S6 Pro has just gone official with several key improvements.
For starters, it may come with the same 5.5-inch screen as before but the resolution has been improved to 1080p over the 720p found in the previous generation. This makes a massive difference since the phone is now capable of just over 400 PPI in terms of pixel density. The phone also ships with android 6.0 out of the box. In comparison, the Gionee S6 was able to offer only the android 5.1 version even though it had decent specifications. In terms of the capability to run the operating system, the Gionee S6 Pro cannot be more well equipped.
The phone may have the same octa core configuration as before, but it is now provided by the unification of two quad core processors rather than one single octa-core processor. The Mediatek MT6755 Helio P10 is assigned the role of handling the processor requirements and it is supplemented by Mali-T860MP2 graphics processing unit. Internal memory has been improved to a whopping 64 GB while this is the case with the RAM of 4 GB as well.
Gionee S6 Pro may have tended to overlook the imaging department since the phone continues with the same 13-megapixel rear camera, but the front facing camera has been improved from a five-megapixel shooter to an eight-megapixel camera. Even though the rear camera does not feature any improvement in megapixel count, its features have been improved. There is a new phase detection autofocus mode while retaining the same f/2.0 aperture.
The Gionee S6 already came with USB Type-C and more features have been added so that the Gionee S6 Pro now supports USB on the go. The battery size remains a healthy 3130 mAh, which means that the phone can last for a day quite easily. The Gionee S6 Pro, though, has become heavier by a couple of few grams (170 g vs 147 g) and increased in thickness compared with the previous generation.
