Google Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and Pixel Android 7.1.1 Nougat is Ready for Download

Android 7.1.1 Nougat

Google Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X owners can start bracing themselves for what they have been waiting for since the release of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL phones – Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

When Google Pixel and Pixel XL phones came to life, they were powered by the newer Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. This OS has a number of features that were only exclusive to the two handsets, however, with the new update, it means Google Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X users now stand a chance of getting the same features, although not all of them.

According to a report from Vodafone Australia, the new Android 7.1.1 Nougat should start rolling out to the Google Nexus 6P today, December 6th. While this doesn’t mean that all other regions will also start receiving the update on the same date or time, those who own the Nexus 6P can at least start checking their phones for an OTA notification. If this is not your way, you can still check for the availability of the new OS via the Settings.

Android 7.1.1 Nougat

The Google Nexus 6P should not be the only device receiving the update to Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The search engine giant had pointed out that the same update will also be made available for users of Google Nexus 5X, Nexus 6 as well as the new boys in town – the Google Pixel and Pixel XL. The OS has been in beta tests for a while and in fact, Pixel C tablet users were also part of the program. In short, those using this tablet should also be receiving the Nougat update along with the Google Nexus 6P.

Since the update is coming as an OTA, not all Google devices will receive the update at the same time, but it shouldn’t be long before all 2016 and 2015 handsets are updated with the OS. It took Google close to two months before rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat to the Motorola Nexus 6, something that could possibly happen with the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat, especially now that the phone is over two years. However, the company has it included on the list of devices to receive the update, but there is no specific date as to when this will happen, apart from early December. Well, this is it and hopefully, it’s just a matter of time!
