With the Google Pixel 2 expected to be unveiled in September or October this year, the original Pixel phone has just received a massive discount on UK’s Carphone Warehouse.
Usually, the retailer sells the 32GB variant of the Google Pixel phone at £599.99, but as at the time of this writing, you can grab one at a discount of £100, which means you only have to part with £499.99. This deal is applicable to the SIM-free version of the phone, which means you can use it on any carrier.
It’s rare to come across a discounted Google Pixel phone and if you are in the UK or Europe for that matter, this is a deal you can’t afford to miss. Whether you want the phone in black or silver, the deal discount will apply once you purchase the phone, but it appears that this is limited to online purchases.
You probably know what you are getting into here, but if you don’t, here’s a small recap. The Google Pixel comes with a 5-inch AMOLED display screen that features a 1080p resolution and Gorilla Glass 4 on top. Under the hood, the compact flagship ships with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC that is mated with a decent 4GB RAM. As noted, the storage is 32GB and there’s no room for a microSD card.
The back camera has a 12.3MP lens while the front has an 8MP shooter for selfies. The battery keeping it alive is a 2770mAh unit that supports fast charging via a USB-C port. Software-wise, you get Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box, but there’s an update to Android 7.1.2 Nougat ready and if you wish, Android O public beta is also available for download, but this one is not yet stable.
