If you are a fan of Google Project Fi, there is more fun coming your way as the company has now opened up the much-anticipated Project Fi family plans.
What this means is that you can now have more people on the same plan. Apparently, Google Project Fi group plans will now accommodate up to 6 people in a single plan, making it easier for families or rather groups to account for their bills, manage settings and even track their data usage.
If you are a current owner of a Google Project Fi account, you can now add more people to the account and as usual with Google products, the price is still a lot cheaper. At just $15 per month for a single line, you get all the Project Fi Basics, including unlimited text and talk time. Similar to the individual plans, each GB of data will be priced at $10 and in case you don’t use the entire allocation by the said period, you will be refunded the balance. In short, you will never be charged for what you haven’t used.
The new Google Project Fi plans have nothing to do with contracts or any long-term commitments. As a result, joining and leaving can be done at a member’s discretion and there won’t be any extra charges for cancelling the plans.
Why join Google Project Fi family plans?
One might be asking why there is need to join the new Google Project Fi plans. Well, for starters, you will only pay one bill for the entire group members. Each member of the plan has the ability to check the amount of data they are using via the Project Fi app while managers have a higher access level that allows them to view the activity of each account member. You don’t have to guess the amount of data used by each member on the plan. If you feel like limiting the amount of data that members are using, you can do so from the manager’s level.
You need a Google Pixel or Google Nexus phone
In order to enjoy the services of Google Project Fi, you need to have the latest Google Pixel, Pixel XL or any of last year’s Nexus 6P or Nexus 5X. In addition, the network is supported on Google Nexus 6. While the Pixel lineup is only available for pre-orders, Google wants users to make the most of these new family plans via the year-old Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X.
Apparently, the search engine giant has an offer that gifts all Project Fi enthusiasts a discount of $100 on any of the two Nexus phones from 2015. The Google Nexus 6P, which usually costs $499, now costs $399. Alternatively, you can choose to pay $16.63 per month, which is not bad at all. As for the smaller Nexus 5X, the price tag is at $199 or $8.29 per month.
